This process is only meant for windows platform. Installing windows from bootable DVDs are regular and usual. But where DVD drive is unavailable, USB pen-drives come in handy to work with. Now a days, all the motherboards support USB boot. So booting and installing OS from the USB drive is easy now. Moreover this installation process is faster than the installation from the DVD.
We are going to use Rufus to make a bootable pendrive. Following are the easy steps to do so.
Requirements:
1. Pen-drive (at least 4GB)
2. Windows 7 ISO image.
3. Rufus
Let's get started:
1. Download Rufus.
2. Connect USB drive.
3. Run Rufus as Administrator (Actually you can just run it by double clicking on it.).
4. At the beginning you will be asked to check update for the software over internet. It is up to you. Here I clicked NO.
5. Your USB stick should be detected automatically under "Device" section. Otherwise, select the correct USB device. Leave every options as it is.
6. Click on the button which says FreeDOS just beside the option "Create a bootable disk using" and select ISO image instead of FreeDOS.
7. Now click on the marked button of the following image and browse to the Windows 7 ISO image and select it.
8. Now click Start and wait until the process completes.
9. Now connect this USB device to the device which you want to install Windows 7 and follow the steps just like you did installing from a DVD.
Hope this will save your time and money of buying different OS as you can install any bootable ISO image as long as you have a bootable ISO image.
